Drabble - Missing
Feb. 3rd, 2017 12:39 pm"Hey Mam, look what I found!"
I freeze. Josh is holding a golden hoop, plate-sized and untarnished. It gleams in the sunlight.
Sophia stands between us, calm and composed in her white dress. She looks just like she did the day we first met, her face a mask of serenity.
“Thanks, Josh.”
My wife takes the ring in both hands, and for an instant I know – just know – that she’s going to lift it up, and crown her dark head with gold.
Then she smiles, and all my cares fall away. "My old frisbee," she says. "Here, Josh - catch!"
