(Snagged from Sandtree on LJ; crossposted from there.)

1. What did you do in 2016 that you'd never done before?
Um... hmm. Okay, so this is a bad start. The one that springs to mind is being made a manager (well, supervisor) over actual real-life people, which is pretty scary.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Hah! I know this one: didn't make any, won't make any.

3. Did anyone close to you have a child?
Not as far as I recall.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
I don't think so, actually. Unlike EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD.

5. What countries/interesting new places did you visit?
We went to Coventry and Stratford (as in Shakespeare) over the summer, that was pretty cool.

6. What would you like to have in 2017 that you lacked this year?
Time off that isn't eaten up by my parents. (Hey, I sound like a teenager again!)

7. What dates from 2016 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Just. Just all of them. I have started using '2016ish' as an adjective.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I think we're back to point one, and actually mostly-successfully running a lab.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Various work things that I just didn't get done.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I did have an exciting vomiting bug at one point; don't often get those.

11. What was your best purchase?
I... don't know. :-/ Might go back to that overnight stay in Coventry? Or maybe Rogue One tickets (that was a good film).

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
[personal profile] celebestel. Did she tell you she started uni? She started uni.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Approximately 50% of the populations of the UK and US. THANKS GUYS.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Boring places - house, car, insurance, etc etc.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I spent a fair amount of time getting really into Rowling's releases about Fantastic Beasts, but I think my biggest outbreaks of squealing were a) the first Rogue One trailer, and b) this thing about the (possible) reactionless EM drive.

16. What song will always remind you of 2016?
2016 does not deserve music. (#There's a Star-Man waiting in the sky...#)

17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
a) About the same, I think. A bit stressier.
b) Thinner. At least, my belt thinks so.
c) Probably about the same. Money comes in, money goes out, it's roughly balanced.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing. Okay, yeah, I did NaNo, but I've got lots of projects that have spent most of the year on hold. Also: interacting with people. (And posting to LJ!)

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Getting miserable over things outside my control. Also, having things happen which are outside my control.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
In a whirlwind organised by my mother. Christmas is stressful. :-/

21. Did you fall in love in 2016?
No, just stayed there. ^_^

22. What shows did you attend this year?
Nothing live. I saw at least a couple of films at the cinema - Rogue One (obvs) and both Marvel films (Civil War and Doctor Strange).

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Well, we've watched 3 1/2 seasons of Star Trek: Voyager on Netflix this year (oh, yeah, plus we now have Netflix), so I guess that has to count?

24. Do you dislike anyone now whom you didn't dislike this time last year?
Couple of people on't internet.

25. What was the best book you read?
I have absolutely no idea. I've read too many.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Didn't discover any music.

27. What did you want and get?
Mmm... nope.

28. What did you want and not get?
To not have to supervise actual real-life people. ^_~

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Rogue One. It was good.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Terrifyingly, I was 30. I probably... I'unno, ate party food and opened presents.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A vote to remain.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2016?
Oh, well, the metastasis of the colorimetry is obviously highly variant, circumfluating the kaleidoscopic morass of the mindsphere. ^_^ (Srsly, wut.)

33. What kept you sane?
Work tried to drive me mad; my wife kept me sane.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Uh... no.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Both of them. :(

36. Who did you miss?
You, LJ! Seriously, I miss the old days.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
... nope.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2016.
To-Do lists are actually really valuable in helping to get stuff done. <<<< I am become Dull, Borer of Worlds.

39. Quote a song lyric/poem that sums up your year.
2016 doesn't deserve music.
If you don't have an account you can create one now.
